This falls into the rarest of the rare category. Rayber is one of the first labels that Berry Gordy owned, and it was short lived (only 2 releases I know of). There was another 45 issued on Rayber by The Five Stars, but that was put out much later on as a reissue of previously unreleased material. It is quite likely that this is the only 45 commercially released by Rayber. This 45 never got national distribution, and as far as I know it was primarily distributed within the Detroit metro. Most likely 2,500 copies or less were ever produced of this extremely rare 45. ****Notice the writing credits - Berry Gordy and Smokey Robinson. Heavyweight stuff here!

Mar 13, 2010 - This is true. Val Shively said that there are more American soul records in Europe than there are in America. I think he's right

Mar 22, 2010 - Simply Beautiful!!!!! It's INSANE that this song didn't get heavier rotation. Not only is it INSANE. It's a crying SHAME. And I'm lookin' for someone to BLAME. And my sights are set on PJ. Who's with me? Yeah, I know his parents weren't even born yet, but don't worry I'm gonna find a way to make the guilt stick.
PJDooWop Says:
Mar 22, 2010 - I probably didn't pay as much as you think I did. It wasn't dirt cheap, but I think I got an excellent deal considering what it could have cost me
PJDooWop Says:
Mar 22, 2010 - You're going to blame me for this not going anywhere? I'm trying to revive the record lol
dowopper51 Says:
Mar 22, 2010 - I'm just curious, why are you blaming PJ? If it wasn't for him posting this, none of us on YT would have ever heard it, I'm going to praise him my friend on this upload.

PJDooWop Says:
May 12, 2010 - Glad you're enjoying it.. It's interesting that more 20 somethings haven't yet discovered this music. Most of it was made by 20 somethings for 20 somethings. Life hasn't changed much since then and I think the music is still relevant
djoutrage18 Says:
May 13, 2010 - I think you're rite, but I was brought up on a lot of doo wop and jazz, some rock and roll etc. Jazz is mainly the music I collect so to speak, but I have countless doo wop records and cds that I love to sit and listen to, even a few 78s.

Jul 23, 2010 - Here is the same question that I asked Phunkyjunction....what ever happened to Wade Jones? Did he record any other stuff?
PJDooWop Says:
Jul 24, 2010 - I wish I knew. He surely had hit potential.. He's got a pleasing quality that transcends soul and pop. Smokey wrote the tune and Berry produced this. From the research I've done on this, it seems that this is the very first 45 Berry Gordy issued (it predates Bad Girl on Motown and Come To Me by Marv Johnson on Tamla). At this point the label was a joint venture between Berry and his wife Raymona, hence "Rayber."
